| Andrey Zhdanov Dryanovo, OSJD-B | ||||||||||||||
Between 1965 and 1979, numerous series of passenger cars for the BDŽ were produced in the domestic wagon "Andrey Zhdanov" in Dryanovo, in total more than 1000 cars were produced during this period. The cars correspond to the OSJD-B type. The first serie of this generation was the 20-17 open space cars, from which the 20-15 compartment cars were derived, and then other series followed. One common car body structure was used for all series, i.e. even the 1st class cars have 10 compartments. Over the years, there were various technical changes - the first cars had a different type of boogies (later changed on all cars), older cars have single-wing entrance doors, newer ones have standard folding UIC doors, different types of windows were used, etc. The production of OSJD-B cars was in Dryanovo ended with series 20-40 in 1979. |

The individual cars differed from each other (different interior design, different type of bogies, windows and doors, different arrangement of windows and other details), which was due to the changing possibilities of the manufacturer at the time of production and also to later modification of the cars. Due to the limited range of gastronomic services provided on board (only drinks and simple snacks), the cars were marked and operated as a buffet car, although the interior layout was more like a regular restaurant car (dining room with around 30 seats + kitchen). There were no standard seats in the car. |

Between 1968 and 1982, passenger cars corresponding to the standard type UIC-Y, resp. Y/B-70 were delivered from the Bautzen factory, which were produced in practically the same design for other countries of the Eastern Bloc. A slight difference in cars from 1982 is the lower design of the roof (similar to cars for MÁV at that time). In addition to the seating cars, sleeping cars produced in the Görlitz factory were also delivered. In the 1990s, BDŽ bought other cars of this type from DB, which acquired them from DR after the reunification of Germany. |

| Andrey Zhdanov Dryanovo, B-84 | ||||||||||||||
In 1984, the production of a new type of car for Bulgarian national trains began in the Andrey Zhdanov Dryanovo wagon factory. The cars are still 24.5 m long as the UIC-Y type, but a distinctive feature is the slight slope of the sides, which allowed the width of the car to be increased at the bottom of the body to 2960 mm (compared to 2883 mm for the UIC-Y type). The goal was to expand the space of compartments and thereby increase comfort for passengers. In the 2nd class cars, leaving only 9 compartments as in the 1st class also contributed to the increase in comfort. Other new features were the newly developed bogies type T73-AD for speed 160 km/h (however, the cars are limited to 130 km/h due to the braking equipment), the use of extra-wide windows of 1400 mm width (compared to 1200 mm for the UIC-Y), electrical supply from the power heating cable or the newly solved air circulation of air heating with exhaust under the windows. |

In the 1990s and 2000s, the renewal of the vehicle fleet was solved by purchasing used cars from Germany. A total of around 400 cars of various types were bought, originating mainly from DR. Some cars were of the same type as already owned cars supplied in the 1970s and 1980s directly from the factory (UIC-Y and some UIC-Z) - these are described above in the relevant sections for clarity; in this section, only those series of cars that have not yet had their equivalent at BDŽ are listed. |

In the second half of the 1990s, several cars for BDŽ were modernized at the Hungarian plant DJV Dunakeszi (in a similar design as the modernized cars for MÁV, ŽSR or ČD at the time). The first cars were used by BDŽ in 1997 on the "Pleven Express" Sofia - Pleven. Other cars were modernized directly in Bulgaria in several series. Reconstructions were carried out first from Am 19-50 cars in the number of 35 cars, other cars were reconstructed from WLABm sleeper cars. In 2009, the maximum permitted speed was reduced to 100 km/h, from 2020, the original speed of 140 km/h is restored for repaired cars. |

After many years, BDŽ received new wagons directly from the manufacturer, in this case 30 sleeper wagons from the Turkish wagon factory Tüvasaş Adapazarı. They are in operation at BDŽ since 30 April 2013.
