The 156A with business class compartments (and not the variant without) is definitely the best first class carriage that runs on Polish rail. The seats are very comfortable, the business class compartments are quite spacious, and the ride quality is fairly good too.

These carriages are amazing, I have ridden them on journeys over 3 hours and the levels of comfort is unbeatable for regular 1st class compartments. The ride quality is superb, mostly thanks to the 25ANa bogies which are capable of 200km/h. The carriage is capable of international connections, though sadly is not used as frequently as they formerly were for a few years after they were manufactured. As of 2026, you'll exclusively see these carriages running demoted to Intercity trains, or on EIC trains which these carriages were designed for.

Whilst the 6 seat compartments are perfectly fine, the business class compartments offer seats that can swivel, move forward and backwards and recline. Additionally, the seats offer at-seat control to closing the compartment door (which closes automatically, but has to be opened manually) with the exception of 61 51 19-90 047-5 which has the seat controls removed and had a faulty air conditioning system that only activated when needed (which is why I downrated the temperature slightly.) Luckily, the other 156A I travelled on the day after, 61 51 19-90 060-8, did not have this issue. Furthermore, the compartment controls on the side-ceiling are quite futuristic, with everything being controlled via a LCD screen rather than physical buttons and a dot-matrix. This screen can slightly fault sometimes (as was also proven with 61 51 19-90 047-5)

Overall, this carriage is fantastic. FPS did an outstanding job with these carriages when they were first built in 2012 and completed in 2015. It's such a shame that they have downgraded their quality on the successors to these carriages, the 175-178A series carriages.
