Najlepsze siedzenia 1 klasy w EZT kursujących dla PKP Intercity (dawniej... najgorsze). Przewyższa wygodą ED161 i nawet ED160, a wielkością siedzenia ED250.
The ED74 is by far the best EMU that PKP Intercity run. It is extremely sound-proofed, a now-proven reliable design and has comfortable seats, especially in 1st class.
Before the modernisation, these units had serious flaws. They were extremely unreliable, had seats only suitable for journeys up to 2 hours, and contained little facilities. This was made even worse that PKP bought them out and started putting them on some of the longest TLK trains at the time, all above 4 hours. The toilet retention tanks were frequently filled up due to their small size, and the trains were usually short formed leading to overcrowding. This has now completely changed since the modernisation.
The ride quality has seriously improved, it is one of the few trains that I have ridden on in Europe that glides over points and at 160km/h you can barely feel a thing. The sound proofing is also excellent, I have had various rides in the motor carriages and you can barely hear a thing. Facilities are great, the amount of toilets have now increased, there is a vending machine and whilst the train is not completely low-floor inside as it used to be, it's tram-aesthetic has been gotten rid of.
Whilst I'm usually not a big fan of PESA or their modernisations (take a look at the 111A-20 carriage for example), they seriously outdid themselves when they modernised these formerly-awful EMUs, which are now some of the best in Poland.
